‘Wire’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ actor Michael K. Williams passes away at 54

The nation and movie industry are morning the loss of an amazing friend and actor as Michael K. Williams was found dead in his apartment in Brooklyn on Monday. Williams, who was 54 at the time of his passing, is well known for his roles in “The Wire” and “Boardwalk Empire”. He was renowned in the movie and television industry as a great person, actor, and friend.

He was nominated for three Emmys for his work as a supporting actor for “When They See Us”, “Bessie”, and “The Night Of.” He also completed work in comedy and nonfiction – even producing a docuseries with two seasons called “Black Market With Michael K. Williams.” His appearance, marred by a large scar he received from a knife encounter at 25, is a recognizable figurehead on the screen. Yet, off the screen, Williams struggled with drug addictions on and off throughout his life.

In some interviews, Williams mentions the negative role drugs had in his life and how he believed that he shouldn’t be alive from the spiraling effects it had on him. Williams eventually

came clean and believed that he could be instrumental in reaching other people who were struggling with some of the same issues he had gone through.
