Mastercard Donates $5M Grant to Morehouse, Spelman for Black Entrepreneurship Program

Morehouse College and Spelmen College just received news that Mastercard is going to donate $5 million for the Center of Black Entrepreneurship. What does this mean for the two renowned colleges in Georgia?

The new center will cater to entrepreneurship programs and courses to help people get on their feet and assist in bridging the gap between the Black community and the business world. The college presidents are excited about the opportunities this will bring to the community and most importantly – the progression this indicates from a major company to improve the stability of businesses and eliminate wealth inequalities.

Spelmen College is going to add the new center into their economics program while Morehouse College will start it up in its new facility. The long-term effects of this program will hopefully assist local entrepreneurs in creating stable and profitable businesses.

Mastercard has been starting to assist in projects designed to improve financial and business literacy in the Black community to remove racial disparities and provide equal opportunity. There is no better way to spearhead this process then implementing entrepreneurship programs in local colleges at the heart of cultural revolutions in the Black communities.
